About the Artist

Amy Boughton's goal is to evoke "that feeling" with her stained glass art– the sensation that truly lifts one's spirit.  Inspired by music, nature and the great artists of our time, Amy strives to call forth the heightened sense one feels when that certain note is hit, or that special view is taken in.  Using the finest glass in the world, Amy combines color, light, line and shape to achieve unique and personal stained glass art.

Amy comes from an artistic family that encouraged creativity and curiosity. Her fascination with capturing the magic of light and color in glass began with a sun-catcher she made for her dad when she was eight years old.  (It still hangs in his kitchen window.)

Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota but now a longtime resident of Missoula, Montana, Amy is a graduate of the University of Montana.  She has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia and the Far East, where she studied many examples of art and stained glass art.  And while the windows of Europe's great cathedrals made a strong impression, they clarified Amy's desire to produce art more personal to her own life experience, and more immediate and accessible to contemporary viewers.

Amy is rarely seen without her trusty Australian Shepherd, Rocky Rocket.  Dog walks in the woods every morning, fly fishing, camping around Montana, traveling the world and eating fine food, and laughing a lot with friends are joys in her life.

As a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the Missoula Building Industry Association, and Trout Unlimited, Amy plays an active role in the pursuit of healthy growth -- urban and environmental -- in Missoula and its surrounding areas, as well as on a state and national level.

The images on these pages reflect not only the broad spectrum of Amy's interests, but those of the many clients who commission her work.  She looks forward to many more years interpreting the glories of stained glass art.
